Indonesia’s proud badminton athlete, Anthony Sinisuka Ginting, and his wife, Mitzi, shared their experience of welcoming their first child at Mandaya Royal Hospital Puri. The childbirth journey was filled with emotional moments and unexpected challenges, yet ended with deep gratitude as both mother and baby were born in healthy condition.
Ginting and Mitzi revealed that the birth of their first child took place on December 12, 2025. Initially, the delivery was planned as a normal vaginal birth. However, the situation developed beyond expectations, prompting the medical team to make a swift decision to ensure the safety of both mother and baby.

“So this was our first child, and the delivery process took place on December 12, 2025. The process was quite long because at first we wanted to try a vaginal delivery, but when it reached 8 centimeters dilation, the baby’s head did not descend, so it ended in an emergency C-section.”
The decision to proceed with an emergency cesarean section was made after close monitoring, including CTG examinations. Ginting and Mitzi felt that the doctor explained the condition clearly and transparently before taking action.
“Dr. Edward explained everything clearly while the dilation was continuously monitored. He explained the CTG results, kept monitoring them, and at the final check at 8 centimeters, it turned out the condition was no longer supportive for a normal delivery.”

Prompt Medical Response and Strong Teamwork

From early pregnancy through delivery, Mitzi was under the care of dr. Edward Tony Ngantung, Sp.OG, an obstetrician and gynecologist at Mandaya Royal Hospital Puri who has extensive experience handling both normal and cesarean deliveries.

Meanwhile, the care and health monitoring of Ginting’s baby were handled by dr. Irene Melinda Louis, Sp.A, a pediatrician at Mandaya Royal Hospital Puri, who ensured the baby’s condition remained optimal from birth through the initial care period.
Ginting admitted that he initially felt anxious, as this was their first experience becoming parents. However, he felt greatly reassured by the preparedness and solid teamwork of the medical staff at Mandaya Royal Hospital Puri.
“I was nervous, but I truly admire the entire team—from Dr. Edward to everyone in the operating room. Their teamwork was excellent.”
He also highlighted the swift transition from the normal delivery room to the operating room, which he felt was handled very efficiently.
“The move from the vaginal delivery room to the operating room was extremely fast. Once we entered the C-section room, suddenly the baby was already born. The process was incredibly quick.”
Mitzi also expressed her gratitude for the prompt response, especially when the baby’s heart rate began to weaken.
“Because the baby’s heart rate was getting weaker, Dr. Edward recommended a C-section. I agreed—whatever was best for me and my baby.”
Comfortable Facilities to Support Postpartum Recovery

Beyond medical considerations, facility comfort was another key reason Ginting and Mitzi chose Mandaya Royal Hospital Puri. They felt the inpatient rooms provided a calm and peaceful environment that supported the mother’s recovery after childbirth.
“The room was very comfortable. During the transition from labor to postpartum recovery, a mother really needs peace and comfort. We felt this place was ideal for Mitzi to recover optimally.”
The comprehensive facilities also meant the family did not need to bring many items from home.
“In my opinion, everything was very complete. There were sterilizers and other essentials. Baby clothes were also fully provided. So we literally just needed to bring ourselves.”
An Irreplaceable Moment Welcoming Their First Child
Ginting described the moment he first saw his newborn as an experience beyond words.
“When I saw the baby, I was happy. The most important thing was that the baby was healthy. It was a priceless moment for me.”
He was also deeply moved witnessing Mitzi breastfeed their baby and observing the baby’s development day by day.
“Seeing the breastfeeding process firsthand—watching my wife breastfeed—was one of the most memorable experiences.”
Meanwhile, Mitzi shared a message for other mothers to fully enjoy their pregnancy and childbirth journey without comparing themselves to others.
“Just enjoy the moment. Don’t compare yourself to other mothers, because every body responds differently and every pregnancy process is unique.”
The experience of Ginting and Mitzi giving birth at Mandaya Royal Hospital Puri illustrates how a combination of experienced medical professionals, prompt medical response, and five-star hotel–like comfort can provide a sense of safety and peace of mind for families, especially during the precious moment of welcoming their first child.
