Mandaya Royal Puri Hospital officially inaugurated its Integrated Sinus & Snoring Center on Saturday (Oct 4). This milestone marks Mandaya’s commitment to providing modern, minimally invasive medical solutions for patients with ENT disorders. Among the key highlights is balloon sinuplasty, a procedure that treats chronic sinusitis without the need for major surgery.
The launch of this center was made possible through a strategic collaboration with Centro Businco, a renowned ENT center in Italy that has treated more than 9,000 patients worldwide, including international figures such as football legend Francesco Totti and world-famous tenor Andrea Bocelli.
The inauguration was attended by Mandaya’s ENT specialists, including dr. Abdillah Hasbi Assadyk, Sp.THT-BKL, MPH; dr. Dewi Lizanty, M.Kes, Sp.THT-BKL; and Prof. dr. Abdul Kadir, Ph.D, Sp.THT-KL(K), MARS, as well as neurologist and sleep disorder expert dr. Dinda Larastika Riyanto, Sp.N, RPSGT. The event was made even more special by the presence of Prof. Lino Di Rienzo Businco, founder and director of Centro Businco Italy.
Chronic Sinusitis Can Be Treated Without Surgery Through Balloon Sinuplasty
One of the flagship technologies at the center is balloon sinuplasty, an innovative procedure that uses a tiny balloon inserted through the nose to open blocked sinus passages without invasive surgery. Compared to traditional methods, balloon sinuplasty offers numerous advantages, including lower risk of bleeding, reduced pain, and faster recovery.
The procedure is performed through the nasal passage without large incisions, keeping surrounding tissue intact. It is also relatively short, lasting only about 15–20 minutes, and causes far less discomfort since it does not damage healthy sinus tissue. Patients can return home immediately after the procedure and experience instant relief. Balloon sinuplasty has proven highly effective in relieving chronic sinusitis symptoms and significantly improving patients’ breathing quality.
According to Erwin Suyanto, Public Relations Manager of Mandaya Hospital Group, this technology provides a modern solution for patients who seek effective treatment without undergoing major surgery.
“Balloon sinuplasty is the answer for chronic sinusitis patients who often delay treatment out of fear of surgery. The procedure is much safer and less traumatic because doctors simply use a balloon to widen the sinus passage, without cutting or removing tissue. That means less pain, minimal bleeding, and a much quicker recovery. Patients can feel the benefits immediately and even return home the same day,” said Erwin.
Beyond Balloon Sinuplasty: QMR and Plasma Coblation
In addition to balloon sinuplasty, the center also introduces Quantum Molecular Resonance (QMR) to help patients with Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) breathe more freely through a quick and precise treatment. QMR uses high-frequency electromagnetic waves to shrink excess tissue blocking the airway without damaging surrounding healthy cells. The result is reduced discomfort, minimized tissue trauma, and improved sleep quality.
The center also provides plasma coblation for tonsillitis treatment. This low-temperature plasma energy technology precisely reduces problematic tonsil tissue while preserving healthy tissue. It allows doctors to perform tonsillotomy, removing only the diseased portion of the tonsils while maintaining their natural immune function. Compared to conventional surgery, plasma coblation offers lighter pain, minimal bleeding, and much faster recovery. Patients can even eat within 3 hours after the procedure.
“These advanced technologies demonstrate Mandaya’s commitment to delivering modern medical solutions. From chronic sinusitis and tonsillitis to Obstructive Sleep Apnea, patients can now be treated without major surgery—through methods that are more effective and comfortable,” Erwin explained.
From Italy to Indonesia: Mandaya Doctors Master Minimally Invasive Techniques
One of Mandaya’s ENT specialists, dr. Abdillah Hasbi Assadyk, Sp.THT-BKL, MPH, played a crucial role in bringing these innovations to Indonesia. He received advanced training in Italy with the Centro Businco team, under the direct mentorship of Prof. Lino Di Rienzo Businco. His training included both theoretical learning and hands-on experience in performing minimally invasive procedures such as QMR, balloon sinuplasty, and plasma coblation.
With this expertise, dr. Abdillah is now highly skilled in applying these techniques, enabling Mandaya patients to access world-class ENT care without traveling abroad. Supported by state-of-the-art facilities and internationally trained doctors, Mandaya offers treatment standards that meet global benchmarks right in Indonesia.
The presence of dr. Abdillah and Mandaya’s medical team underscores the hospital’s dedication to bringing world-class healthcare to Indonesia—allowing patients to receive global-quality treatments without leaving their home country.
Erwin emphasized that Mandaya’s philosophy extends beyond advanced technology—it is also about patient experience.
“Many patients delay treatment because they fear major surgery. With minimally invasive technologies like balloon sinuplasty at Mandaya, that fear can be eliminated. Procedures are performed with minimal pain, minimal bleeding, and same-day discharge, allowing patients to recover faster and return to their daily routines,” he said.
With the establishment of this Integrated Sinus & Snoring Center, Mandaya Royal Puri Hospital strengthens its position as a national referral hospital for ENT and sleep disorder treatments. By combining minimally invasive technology, internationally certified doctors, and modern facilities, Mandaya provides new hope for Indonesian patients to receive world-class healthcare without leaving the country.
