Arthroscopy: One of dr. Troy’s Key Techniques for Frozen Shoulder
Frozen shoulder can often be treated with conservative therapies such as medications and physical therapy. However, if symptoms persist despite these treatments, dr. Troy may recommend a minimally invasive surgical procedure called arthroscopy.
One of dr. Troy’s specialties in treating frozen shoulder is performing arthroscopic shoulder capsular release. This procedure involves making a small 1 cm incision in the shoulder to release the tight capsule tissue causing the stiffness and pain. A pencil-sized camera is inserted to allow for precise visualization of the joint’s interior, enabling a highly accurate surgical approach.
During the procedure, dr. Troy carefully releases the adhesions within the shoulder joint capsule. The results are often noticeable shortly after surgery—patients usually experience improved shoulder motion, including the ability to lift and rotate the arm again.
A few weeks post-surgery, pain caused by frozen shoulder typically subsides, and the patient’s range of motion continues to improve.
